Solar Off Grid System

With the development of any country one of the biggest focus is on the resources already available and the resources to be made available.
Electricity is becoming the major need of the current world. Not only for the survival of industries and overall growth, it also has its necessity lain in even the very basic of the things.


Talking about the basic off-the-grid system of electricity, it is actually a system and style to help the people even in the remote areas with no access to electricity to make use of it. In providing such electricity, the off grid system can be a standalone power system or a mini grid system usually able to provide energy to small communities. People making use of this technology are known as the off-gridders. It is mainly used in areas where there is little or no electricity, usually which includes areas with less dense and scattered population. Off the grid refers to a method of living in a self-sustained manner and not relying on public utilities. Like these off-gridders do not rely on municipal water supply, sewage or electric power grid.


Off grid solar electricity generation is one such program to meet the needs of electricity of the people even in areas where they do not have access to grid electricity that too making use of solar energy only. The houses making use of this advancement usually cannot be supplied by municipal or any private Electric Corporation. But the very advantage of not having to pay the bill ever is a tempting one.
Photovoltaic off-grid market is increasing in demand. It has been researched in various industries, institutions and various other research companies. It is estimated that an installed system can generate a capacity of about 5-6 GW. The situation where grids have been installed it is pocket friendly to generate ones own electricity rather than to buy it from the electric grids. It varies and depends on different equipment costs, the availability of the source it is using (solar/ wind) and other costs of the system. In some areas it can be expensive.

With advances in the fields of renewable energy sources incorporation into the daily household and commercial needs, the use of off-the-grid solar electricity system is increasing. It is becoming increasingly cheaper and more efficient with time. The most important fact about this system is that it provides energy to an area where people might have assumed to have lost all the comforts. In remote areas where there is no hope, and no one even imagines having lit homes, in areas like these this system is helping to run even the heaviest of the appliances.


The working of this efficient system includes the following
1.    Firstly the system has the arrangement of the solar panels or the wind turbines blades. On exposure to sunlight or in conditions of increased wind velocity respectively, an electric current- direct in nature is generated.
2.    This direct current is directed to a control system which is to regulate the amount of charge.
3.    The current reaches the batteries installed and they are charged as this happens.
4.    Now an inverter is used which converts this direct current into alternative current as per the standards of the electric current in that area for running the home appliances

The system used depends on the need and the location of the person.


Another system is grid tie system. It is less expensive than the off the grid systems as they do not have additional equipments. It also lacks batteries. But some systems install old car batteries which makes them different from other grid tie systems. As these batteries cannot be used to start a car anymore, it is still an effective cost reduction method.


The concept of sustenance of the off grid system based community depends on the basic understanding of taking in consideration the needs of all the people in the community. As these do not depend on the municipal supplies and other public utilities they have to look after their own food, shelter, water etc. One such community can go far from just using this off grid system but also at the same time install renewable energy based sustaining options like on site water source which can also be based in rain water harvesting. It reduces its impact on the environment by controlling waste product and reducing their use of energy sources mainly based on carbon thus, reducing pollution.
